Among main features of Tansky stone are distinctive texture of stone, grey color recognized for its strictness and restraint, and high abrasive hardness and high stability against the influence of aggressive factors, as well as low-low water absorption that results in high freeze resistance.

Notably these properties make this granite irreplaceable in external cladding, creation of various architectural ensembles, reconstruction of squares, parks, public gardens, and in arrangement of fountains.

Tansky granite has grey color tending to blue-green tone and is considered to be the most valuable granite among all extracted analogues in Ukraine.

The Tansky Granite Deposit has been used since times immemorial. However, it is hard to determine the precise “age” of the quarry. It is well-known that in 1930s the local Industrial Enterprise began to exploit the quarry, and since 1934 – Kuibyshev Industrial Cooperative Association of Quarry Administration continued to work it out. Then, after a long down time, the Deposit began to revive and after explorations works that took place in 1955, quarrying works were recommenced. Starting from 1972 and up to day, industrial operation of the granite quarry has been completely restored. Only explored reserve of stone is about 2 000 000 m³. Bedding of granite enables open-pit operation.

As we can see, the Tansky Deposit has been used for quite a long time. Due to excellent decorative properties of stone, Tansky granite got the name among sculptors, stone masons and builders. For this reason, Tansky granite was used in manufacture of quite many famous memorials in Kyiv, among which the most impressive are monumental granite pedestals for memorials of Princess Olha, D. Korotchenko, D. Hrushevskyi, etc.

Slabs and plates made of Tansky granite were used in constraction of such unique projects in the capital of Ukraine as Kyiv Metro stations, Boryspil Airport, Palace “Ukraine”, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. This stone is successfully used in cladding of cinemas, pedestrian underpasses, and in square paving. For reconstruction of the National Sports Complex Olimpiyskiy for the 2012 European Football Championship there were supplied 10.5 ths. square meters of granite slabs from the Tansky Deposit.
